How conversions work
Length and weight conversions multiply your value by a fixed factor between the two units. Temperature is different — it needs a formula, not just a factor, since the zero points don't line up.
°F = °C × 9/5 + 32
K = °C + 273.15
K = °C + 273.15
Examples
- Length: 1 mile = 1.609 km.
- Weight: 1 kilogram = 2.205 pounds.
- Temperature: 20°C = 68°F = 293.15 K.
